The Columbia area is known for its foodie hotspots, and that characteristic of the city is about to grow even more. From large chain restaurants, to more locations of local hotspots, there are at least four more locations opening in the Columbia area within the next year. Whether you have a hankering for coffee and snacks, or full on nights out, there is a little something for everyone coming in the next year, so keep your eyes open and your stomach empty to be able to enjoy them.
From the standard large chain fare, we have another Dunkin’ Donuts opening in the city, which will bring our grand total to two, which isn’t so bad when you think of chains, yet will be in direct contrast with our already local Strange Donuts shop. Now, having bigger business names in the city is one thing, and always a good sign when larger companies take interest in the city, but then again, we already have a local option that supports our own Columbia businesses, it’s a bittersweet sentiment, but the price of progress we guess. We just hope they are both equally popular.
For more local lunch options we have a Fuzzy’s Taco shop opening in the Ninth Street area, which is going to bring a little worldlier flavor to the city. We can’t wait for this option to open ourselves, because who doesn’t love some Mexican food for lunch? An added benefit of this location though it that it opens more options for vegetarians in the area who may find themselves a little short on options in the Columbia area. Whether it’s tacos, fajitas or nachos you’re looking for, this seems like it’s going to be the place to go to get them.
In the expanding local market, it seems that resident favorites Addison’s are getting another location in the Columbia downtown area. It’s always great to see local businesses getting the chance to expand in the area, and growing off the back of residential support. We for ones are happy to see the restaurant looking to make more waves in the city as it’s always been a staple place for people to visit. This could at times lead to some longer waits, and having a secondary option in the city will only serve to remedy that a little.
And what would a night out be without some ice cream to cap it all off? That’s right, we’re finally getting a Baskin Robins in the city, and it’s about time. With the signature 31 flavors about to grace the downtown area, you can be sure that this is going to be a popular destination for everyone to check out when the night is ending, or out for an adventure with the family. With all of these options making their way to the Columbia area, it’s going to get harder to decide on where to spend our time and money, and we see that as a good thing.
